Chris Snook
Chairman

Background

Until his retirement in 2017, Chris Snook served as Head of Group Country Management (including Head of Customers First) at Novartis AG in Basel. In addition, Chris was the Novartis Country President for Singapore, a position he held since 2008. In these roles, Chris was responsible for driving Novartis Group corporate objectives globally and ensuring full corporate governance across all Novartis legal entities, representing Novartis in local Boards of Directors, facilitating cross divisional business synergies via Customers First, as well as supervision and coordination of the Novartis Business Services Country Representatives (23 in total).

Chris joined Novartis in 2000, first serving as Region Head of Novartis’ Asia Pacific, VMS operations based in Singapore. Soon after joining Novartis in Singapore he relocated to Tokyo to become General Manager, Japan and South Korea for the Novartis Consumer Health Division, overseeing its three Business Units. Chris moved back to Singapore in 2003 as Head of OTC Asia Pacific Region, becoming a Singapore PR in the same year. In 2007 Chris assumed operational responsibility for the newly created Middle East/Africa & South Eastern Europe Region based in Dubai.

Chris has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Southampton University and has accumulated over 37 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Chris continues to represent Novartis AG as Chairman, board member and legal representative for a number of Novartis group companies in China, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Alan J Crawford
Corporate Governance

Background

Alan is currently Chief Audit Officer, General Insurance at Aviva. Alan is a Chartered Accountant, Chartered Internal Auditor, and Corporate Governance Specialist, with over 30 years’ experience in the financial services sector in the UK, Europe and Asia. Alan has 20+ years risk, audit and compliance experience, having previously been a Director in Governance, Risk & Control at EY, and Audit Director at a number of leading financial institutions, including Goldman Sachs, Lloyds Banking Group and Royal Bank of Scotland.

Prior to his Internal Audit Roles, Alan held a number of senior management roles in financial services organisations, across all three lines of defence. Alan is regularly asked to speak at various events across the world on corporate governance, and is an active member of the Institute of Internal Auditors.
